The magic bug bit Michael when he and a schoolmate performed for their school. Now with over thirty years performance experience under his belt, Michael has risen to become one of Virginia’s Premier magicians.

Michael has performed a whirlwind of shows around the mid-Atlantic, the entire United States and parts of Europe. His credits include performing on stage at most of the festivals in Virginia, including the Neptune festival, The Strawberry Festival, Uncle Billy’s Day, Ashburn Village festival, The Fredericksburg Heritage Festival, First Night Fredericksburg, and many more. He has been featured at the National Theater In Washington DC, The national Shakespeare Theater at the Folger Library, Washington DC and Performed at the Royal Netherlands Embassy to the United States.

Michael was voted magician of the year for the Norfolk chapter of the Virginia Magical Society and Is the Immediate Past President of The International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 50 Washington DC. Since turning pro in 1985, Michael has performed in over 2000 professional shows.

Michael has used his magic to cultivate a love for the theater and has had an equally stellar career both in front and behind the curtain. As production manager and technical director, Michael brought the Riverside Center From its Gala opening through two years of productions including: “the Sound of Music”, “Oklahoma!”, “1776,” “Mame,” “ A funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum,” “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,” “The Music Man” and as the opening act for the Riverside center’s Children Lunch and Show Theater,”

Michael’s various roles on stage include Caesar Rodney In “1776,” “Mr. Agnagnos” In “the Miracle Worker,” Lt Rooney in “Arsenic and Old Lace” The magic mirror in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” and the Troll in “Jack and the Giant.”

Michael is an accomplished Lighting designer, Director and writer. These skills helped him to win, a national ACCE communications award for excellence in corporate communications with his multi media presentation “ESOP your Gateway to Freedom.”

Michael’s Shows “Presto”, Legerdemain”, “Out of the Ordinary”, and “Les Jongleurs, Presentacion, du Magic au Flambeau” are the keystone of his theatrical design, production and consulting firm “Michael Taggert Studios”. Founded with fellow performer Trey Cromwell, Michael Taggert Studios is beginning its 14th Season of quality magical productions. Michael is also The Chairman of the Washington DC magi convention “Magi-whirl” That has raised over $6000 for their Charity Bishop Ireton High school Technical theater department. As chairman and Producer of this gala show Michael Has Played host to a cavalcade of Top international performers Including VH-1’s television star Jeff McBride ( Chris angels Mindfreak and Celbracadabra). International Star Aldo Columbini, Las Vegas Star, Rich Block, National Touring star, Kendrick “Ice” McDonald among others.

Michael is a published reviewer of new magic. (His reviews have appeared in the Linking ring Magazine.) He is an ardent supporter of youth in magic.
